Catia Kossovsky is owner of Kossovsky Law PLLC, a boutique law firm specializing in corporate law, mergers and acquisitions, securities law, and cannabusiness. She is also Of Counsel to Hoban Law Group, the nation’s premier cannabusiness firm, where she assists on corporate and M&A matters. Prior to starting her own firm, Catia practiced law in various AM200 law firms located in New York City and Pittsburgh,and was in-house counsel for a private equity shop.
Catia has been practicing law for over 17 years and has been working in cannabis law since its inception in Pennsylvania in 2015. She is the chair of the Medical Marijuana and Hemp Law Committee for the Allegheny County Bar Association. The committee has been actively working under Catia’s guidance to educate attorneys and the general population in western Pennsylvania about Pennsylvania’s medical marijuana laws since medical marijuana has become available to patients in the state. She also works closely with chairs of medical marijuana committees for the Pennsylvania Bar Association and Philadelphia Bar Association to create a uniform front in addressing cannabis related issues throughout the state.
Catia speaks locally and nationally about Pennsylvania’s medical marijuana laws, ethics, corporate law and real estate issues in the industry. She has written articles for national publication and has educated local city government officials on the legal aspects of the industry.
Catia’s non-profit experience, skills, and know-how would be a great benefit to NCBA’s efficiency and effectiveness. Through her experience as a board trustee for a Pittsburgh based non-profit news publication, Catia is responsible for maintaining corporate governance, conducting organizational assessments of short-term needs and long-term goals, assisting with devising strategic plans and evaluating the best ways to implement them.
Catia is licensed to practice law in Pennsylvania, New York and New Jersey. She graduated from Baruch College with a degree in Business Administration and earned her Juris Doctorate from St. John’s University School of Law. When not working, Catia enjoys spending time with her husband and 2 young daughters. She also enjoys traveling and hopes to someday soon begin reading books without pictures in them again.
